Meet the Team
The following people are members of the Cape Town Kickboxing Team. They are all from Kazoku Dojo. For all the participants, except for Sensei Chantell and Sempai Nate, this will be their first trip to Nationals. Scroll down for updates!
Sensei Chantell Kotze
Was the 2015 SA Kickboxing Womens Champion in her weight division. A second Dan Black Belt belongs to her and is a symbol of all her hard work. She is the owner of Kazoku MMA Dojo. Also, she is really good with the students and really cares about them. UPDATE Sensei Chantell is now the 2017 SA Kickboxing Womens Champion in her weight division. She won a Gold and a Silver medal! In protective head gear. He started kickboxing early in 2016 and is still going strong. He fights really well even against more experienced fighters. He wears an orange belt. |
Sempai Nate October
Assists Sensei Chantell in teaching classes. He pushes himself to the limits and is almost as good as Chantell is with the students. Class just wouldn't be the same without him. Brown is the colour of his belt. Chadwin
Can hold his own when he's fighting and is great at getting the punch to where it needs to be. He also started Kickboxing early in 2016 and ties an orange belt around his waist before class. Junait
Is smaller than most but that's not stopping him. He started kickboxing early in 2016 and as of December last year he is currently the youngest Kazoku student to wear an orange belt. UPDATE! Junait fought briliantly at the Nationals. He won a Silver Medal! See photos in the Gallary. |
Thomas
Was bitten by the kickboxing bug in November 2015. He recently graded to a green belt, and it looks great on him. His claim to fame is that he can do the splits and kick higher than 1.4meters. Tylun
Has been kickboxing on and off for quite awhile. He is the proud owner of a green belt. Being light on his feet and brilliant at jumping kicks are just some of the skills that he has. Alicia
Focuses well during training and is a hard worker. She started Kickboxing early in 2016 and has progressed at such a rapid pace that she now wears an orange belt. One of her strong points is knowing how to take a punch. UPDATE! Alicia fought like a champ at the Nationals. She won a Bronze medal and a Silver medal! See photos in the Gallery. |
